A feature film (motion picture or “movie”) with a running time long enough to be regarded the major or exclusive presentation in a for-profit entertainment program is called a feature film or feature-length film. The major, feature-length film in a cinema program, which frequently also featured a short film and a newsreel, was formerly referred to as the feature film. Cartoons, at least one weekly serial, and frequently a second feature-length film on the weekends were all common additions to matinee programming, particularly in the US and Canada.
